Oh, Lord, you know my yesterdays
and see my every tomorrow
look on me Thanksgiving Day
and hear my gratitude
You hold my heart in caring hands
and lead my feet with patience
for when I stumble, often fall
your grace, steadfast awaits
Life may curse this sinner’s path
still blessings you bestow
I sing a song of praise to you
all I have, it’s to you whom I owe
I’m gonna print this out and
put it on my ‘frigerator!
Happy Thanksgiving, Ma

I took the time to read your prayer
and said it aloud as my own
don’t dismay I did not steal it
God knows from whom it came
to borrow your words
He did bless me
as He has blessed you
together we rejoice in praise
for blessings undeserved
Amen
*Edit: God, give Iano a blessing, please.*

Wonderful prayer, Ma. Beautiful.
Happy Thanksgiving to You!

Might be a prayer – sure ain’t a poem.
No, I’ve changed my mind – it’s as much a masterpiece as Sin is an honest, decent, honourable human being. (’Scuse me while I take my tongue out of my cheek.)
Worry not for me, Giggles – I’ve been blessed with the gift of telling the truth.
Hey, ma – I’ve written a parody of your poem. I don’t need your permission, nor am I obliged to tell you, but I thought I’d let you know that I entered it in a contest and won $1,000. Naturally, I’m keeping all the money because it was all my own work, after all.
O God, You know my yesterdays
and see all my tomorrows
look on me this Thanksgiving Day
and listen to my gratitude.
You hold my heart in Your caring hands
and lead my feet most patiently
for when I stumble and fall
Your grace steadfastly catches me
Life might curse this poor sinner’s road
yet Your blessings You bestow
I sing my song of praise to You
all that I have, ’tis to You I do owe
But can I have some more?
I will be most offended if you try to assert I am not entitled to claim full credit for my parody.
(I will, of course, give you a mention in the small print, but it’s not my fault if everybody is too busy telling me how great I am to see it.)
H’m – Sin ‘retires’ – KMOC ‘returns’. H’m. Interesting.
Seeing as it’s Thanksgiving – thanks for all the TDs. Must be those nasty, hateful trolls you all used to complain about, eh?
